Mr. Ashdown is the founder and principal of Ashdown Architecture, Inc., a full service, San Francisco based architectural firm focusing on retail, residential and access compliant design. As principal in charge, Mr. Ashdown is responsible for all aspects of project development and is the primary client contact during all phases – from initial programming and conceptual design through project completion. With twenty-eight years of experience working on a wide range of institutional, commercial and retail projects, Mr. Ashdown has developed a thorough understanding of the ADA-ABA, ADAAG, CBC, UFAS and ANSI standards that establish access requirements in California. His accessibility experience includes project design, municipal review, site inspections and educational seminar presentations. Mr. Ashdown is a Registered Architect in California, Washington, Oregon and Idaho, with the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards (NCARB), and a California Certified Access Specialist #112. He received his Bachelor of Landscape Architecture from Utah State University and his Master of Architecture degree from Harvard’s Graduate School of Design. Prior to founding Ashdown Architecture, he was a Principal Architect with Holt Hinshaw in San Francisco, and a Vice President with Emilio Ambasz in New York.
